The staff is wrapping up this busy semester, and it’s hard to believe everything that has happened. From the Mizzou Hunger Strike and Concerned Student 1950 to the Missouri Students Association presidential race, covering MU has truly been a challenge this fall. It’s really hard for me to write about everything that has happened in just a few hundred words. But I think the biggest thing I would like to stress in this letter is how amazing and persistent our staff has been in covering everything.
Covering this semester has been a group effort. Members of editorial board were ready to step up and cover stories that weren’t part of their section. Reporters were willing and able to jump in at a moment’s notice to cover a demonstration or breaking news from the UM System. When Katherine or I asked something of them, whether it be a new story idea or sending them on foot to follow a protest, it was met with agreement or suggestions to make our coverage even better.
The support from The Maneater Mafia was incredible, too. We were never without food or words of encouragement or wisdom. From the bottom of our Maneater green hearts, thank you. The pizza and Jimmy Johns were bountiful and the cookies were eaten ridiculously fast.
We are tired, but ready and excited for the spring semester. Looking ahead, Katherine and I are in the process of brainstorming how to recruit and retain staff for the spring. We’re also in the middle of hiring for spring editorial board. The new positions will be announced in just a few short weeks, so watch for those!
Here’s to the next semester. Happy holidays, everyone!
